It’s late but MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR from us!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to our Tripawd family!

Thank you guys so much for all the support! I honestly don’t know where we would be and how I would cope without you all.

Things have been going great on our end. Zuko is still trooping along and has been doing better at not making accidents when we’re not home. We also had a relief vet come in while our regular vet was on vacation and our regular vet actually told me to talk to him and get his opinion and advice about Zuko’s condition and medications. As far as his condition, the relief vet said the same thing – it’s not likely that he’d improve and everything that we’re doing right now is more of palliative care. He also advised to take him off the metacam and have him on tramadol (50mg 2x/day) instead.

I am definitely so happy that Zuko still has that big ‘ol smile on his face and still has the drive to want to play and chase cats. Lately, it has been very hard working at the clinic. There have been sooooo many dogs that come in and just remind me of Zuko – dogs with cancer, dogs that are paralyzed from the waist down and are incontinent. Going through the motions with the owners and hearing the heartbreak in their voice when deciding to put them to sleep and going through the process with them just takes so much out of me. It makes me think of my situation with Zuko and how easy it is to forget about it since he’s still so happy despite his condition.

But enough of all the sadness! Here are some photos with Zuko at the Christmas lights! 🙂

Oh my goodness, I just adore this dog!

You are creating such happy memories. I love that you share those with us, as well as the photos!

I hope you give yourself some credit for staying strong and focused on making every moment count with Zuko. It has to be soooo hard to do because of your job and what you deal with on a day to day basis. It’s just a testament to the loving bond you and Zuko have! You are not letting anything interfere with your time together with Zuko!!!

STANDING OVATION TO YOU…AND ZUKO TOO!! 🙂

Thank yiu for sharing these treasured family photos with us…..and keep ’em coming!

    Love and hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

PS. Just want to add that the Tramadol dose still has some room to be increased if needed, so that’s good !! You’re an excellent advocates for Zuko!! 🙂

Hugs and love…..And extra cheeseburger for Zuko!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Thank you for all the kind words 🙂

It has definitely been quite difficult especially lately but I’d honestly do anything and everything for him. A lot of people just don’t seem to understand how much my furbabies mean to me and I’m so glad to be a part of this community that just gets it! 🙂

      More pictures to come!

      Love

      Jane, Zuko and Keiko

WOW! Your and Zuko’s smiles are brighter than all the Christmas lights in the photos! The love just jumps out and hollers

    ZUKO YOU ROCK!!!!

I’m so glad that you guys are doing well. What a gift! And in a lot of ways, all that you’ve going through is such a gift to those clients at the clinic. By walking this path with Zuko, you have a close understanding of what those people are going through. I have no doubt they sense your compassion and empathy, they know you undertstand.

I’m so happy to hear things are going well. You are doing such a great job keeping him comfortable and happy. What a terrific vet you will be!

All the best to you both in the new year!
    xoxo

Zuko just surprises me everyday. Its amazing just how much tenacity he has and how he’s still so happy despite all his ailments. He just gives me so much hope!

He definitely has taught me so much. This road to vet school came to fruition because of him and his sister Keiko and I just hope I’ll succeed as a vet, not only for me, but for them 🙂
